Wildcats Ready for Purple/White Scrimmage

MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Kansas State volleyball team will wrap up its training camp this weekend with the annual Purple/White Match at 7 p.m. Saturday at Ahearn Field House. The No. 22 Wildcats have been preparing for the 2009 campaign with their eyes set on another trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Head coach Suzie Fritz said she is anxious to see her team on the court in a competitive setting and begin counting down the days until the first match of the season.

"We have worked extremely hard throughout two-a-days and are pleased with the progress that our team is making," Fritz said. "We've got less than a week before we will have a significant test in regards to where we are at as a team. We're looking forward to the Purple/White scrimmage to have an opportunity to compete."

K-State opens its season against the No. 11 Minnesota Golden Gophers at the Runza/AVCA Showcase in Omaha, Neb., on August 28. On day two of the Showcase, K-State takes on No. 16 Michigan.
