Last Saturday's straight-sets win against Texas Tech not only snapped a two-match losing streak for K-State volleyball, but it also showcased a Wildcats team putting together its best effort in a Big 12 so far this season.

The Wildcats registered their best hitting percentage (.266) in a Big 12 match this season, with seniors Dakota Kaufman and Kaitlynn Pelger hitting over .400 for the entire match. Both Pelger, who led the team with 15 kills, and Kaufman even turned in errorless .500 hitting percentages in the second set.

Outside hitters Kaufman, Courtney Traxson and Chelsea Keating each had six or more kills against Texas Tech. Kaufman led the way with 10 kills, her most kills in a Big 12 match since Nov. 13, 2010 against Baylor. The three outside hitters combined for a .299 hitting percentage (30k-10e-67att) against the Red Raiders.

Defensively, every Wildcat that appeared in the match tallied at least one dig, with a back row of freshman Kersten Kober, junior Gina Madonia and senior Tristan McCarty combining for 30 of the team's 51 digs. Madonia had a team-best 11 digs.

It is time for a new match, however. The Wildcats look for their first back-to-back Big 12 wins in almost exactly a year when they head to Waco, Texas to take on Baylor on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 7 pm. It is the first meeting between the two schools this season.

Baylor (9-13, 1-5 Big 12) is coming off being swept by TCU and Oklahoma in last week's action. The Bears are led by Thea Munch-Soegaard in kills per set in conference-only matches this season, but the sophomore outside hitter did not play in the match against Oklahoma on Saturday. The Bears registered a .010 hitting percentage against the Sooners while Oklahoma hit at a .302 clip. Baylor is last in the Big 12 in conference-only matches with a hitting percentage against of .299.

K-State swept the season series in 2012 against Baylor, but the two wins represent just three against the Bears in the last eight meetings. Baylor has beat K-State in three of the last four matchups in Waco.
