No. 1 Huskers Sweep Past Wildcats

MANHATTAN, Kan. Kansas State faced off against No. 1 Nebraska before a season-high crowd of 1,894 in Ahearn Field House on Saturday night. The Huskers remained unbeaten after dropping the Wildcats, 3-0 (30-21, 30-24, 30-22).

K-State (9-14, 1-12 Big 12) was led by sophomore Megan Kroeker with 12 kills. The Solomon, Kan., product has reached double figures in kills 13 times this season and has paced the Wildcats in the category five times.

 

Nebraska (20-0, 12-0) was led by sophomore Jordan Larson and junior Sarah Pavan. Larson recorded a match-high 16 kills and added 10 digs and four blocks to her ledger. Pavan, a two-time All-American, carded 12 kills and five blocks.

 

For the match, the Huskers hit .269 while K-State mustered a .050. The Wildcats led Nebraska in one category as they received a strong effort from their service, dropping in seven aces. Leading the way in the category was junior Stacey Spiegelberg with three. K-State has now tallied at least one service ace in 248 consecutive matches, which is the longest current streak in the nation.

 

Kansas State will visit Colorado on Wednesday. The match will be at 8 p.m. (CT) and can be heard live on 1350 KMAN in Manhattan.
