Two Wildcats Earn Academic All-District

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Two Kansas State Wildcats were recognized on Thursday for their hard work both on the volleyball court and in the classroom. Seniors JuliAnne Chisholm and Lauren Mathewson were selected as members of the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District VII Team.

For the second straight year Chisholm was selected to the first team making her eligible for the Academic All-America Team with her 3.97 GPA in athletic training/pre-med, life sciences and gerontology. Chisholm earned Academic All-America Third Team honors last season and has been honored by the Big 12 Conference as Academic All-Big 12 First Team last year. She currently leads the team in kills per set averaging 2.99.

Mathewson received third team honors for her first Academic All-District VII award. She currently holds a 3.84 GPA in business administration and will graduate in December. Mathewson adds to her list of academic accomplishments after receiving Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors each of the two years she has been eligible. She currently ranks fourth in the conference in digs per set averaging 4.74. Mathewson recently moved into second in career digs at K-State and her 417 digs this season rank 10th all-time in school history with six matches to play. She also ranks fourth in career digs in Big 12 history.
