Chisholm Earns Academic All-America

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Junior outside hitter JuliAnne Chisholm was recognized for her combined efforts on the court and in the classroom on Monday being selected to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America Volleyball Team. Chisholm received third team honors and is the fourth Academic All-American in school history.

Chisholm holds a perfect 4.0 GPA in athletic training and pre-medicine at Kansas State and leads the team in kills per set this season. Earlier this season she was named Academic All-Big 12 First Team, her first such award and received Academic All-District First Team distinction making her eligible for the All-America Team. Chisholm is one of just two Big 12 student-athletes named to this year volleyball Academic All-America Team with Nebraska's Kori Cooper getting first team recognition.

"This is a tremendous honor for Jules," said head coach Suzie Fritz. "She works exceptionally hard at her academics and this is a very well-deserved honor."

K-State's last Academic All-American in volleyball was Cari Jansen in 2003 when she was named to the first team. Jansen also earned third team honors the previous year. Jennifer Koehn was named to the third team in 1982.

Kansas State Athletics has seen a number of academic achievements from its student-athletes this season and holds the highest graduation rate for all sports combined in the Big 12 Conference for a third straight year. The volleyball team had four student-athletes named Academic All-Big 12 First Team and Kelsey Chipman joined Chisholm on the Academic All-District First Team.
