Talley Earns Second-Straight Regional Bid

MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Kansas State junior women's golfer Madison Talley was one of 24 players nationally to earn an individual bid into the 2016 NCAA Women's Golf Regionals, the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Committee announced Monday evening. Talley, who earned her second-straight postseason berth, was selected as the No. 3 seed in the Baton Rouge (Louisiana) Regional, which will be held May 5-7, at the University Club.

"Making a regional is a reward for having a great season," K-State head coach Kristi Knight said. "(Assistant Coach) Stew (Burke) and I are proud of her. We are excited to take her down to Baton Rouge and see her play that golf course."

Talley will be joined by five other individuals in the Baton Rouge Regional: No. 1 seed Ashley Holder (Central Florida), No. 2 seed Emma Svensson (Central Arkansas), fourth-seeded Chieh Jessica Peng (Mississippi State), fifth-seeded Ji Eun Baik (Mississippi State) and No. 6 seed Meghan MacLaren (Florida International).

Ranked in the top-100 among all collegiate individuals according to Golfweek, Talley led the Wildcats during the 2015-16 season in stroke average at 73.06. During her junior season, Talley also led the team in rounds even or under par (15), average strokes per round behind the leader (3.40) and percentage of rounds counted toward the team score (100 percent).

A native of Clarksville, Arkansas, Talley also paced the team in top-10 (4) and top-20 (7) finishes this season, including finishing in fourth place at the Big 12 Championship where she carded a 2-under par 214. Her performance marked the first time a Wildcat has finished in the top 10 at the Big 12 Championship and subsequently earned a spot on the all-tournament team since Christine Boucher tied for seventh in 2004.

The four NCAA Regionals are comprised of 18 teams and six individuals. The top six teams and three individuals not on an advancing team from each region will compete in the 2016 NCAA Championship, held May 20-25, at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Oregon.
