Talley Heads to Louisiana for NCAA Regional

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State junior women's golfer Madison Talley will travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Thursday through Saturday, to compete in the 2016 NCAA Women's Golf Regionals at the par-72, 6,285-yard University Club.
Talley, who earned her second-straight postseason berth, is ranked in the top-100 among all collegiate individuals according to Golfweek. The No. 3 individual seed for the Baton Rouge Regional, Talley led the Wildcats during the 2015-16 season in stroke average (73.06), rounds even or under par (15), average strokes per round behind the leader (3.40) and percentage of rounds counted toward the team score (100 percent).

“This is her second year in a row to make NCAA's and her experience will be an asset,” K-State head coach Kristi Knight said. “(Assistant Coach) Stew (Burke) and I are excited for Madison. She has had an impressive season. She is playing really well right now and is looking forward to playing this golf course.

A native of Clarksville, Arkansas, Talley also paced the team in top-10 (4) and top-20 (7) finishes this season, including finishing in fourth place at the Big 12 Championship where she carded a 2-under par 214. Her performance marked the first time a Wildcat had finished in the top 10 at the Big 12 Championship since Christine Boucher tied for seventh in 2004.

Talley will look to improve off her performance in last year’s San Antonio Regional when we tied for 23rd with three-straight rounds of even-par 72 for a 54-hole score of 216. She is the first Wildcat to advance to regional play in consecutive seasons since the quartet of Boucher, Sarah Heffel, Stephanie Limoges and Karen Quintelier helped guide K-State to consecutive regional appearances in 2002 and 2003.
Talley will be joined by five other individuals in the Baton Rouge Regional: No. 1 seed Ashley Holder (Central Florida), No. 2 seed Emma Svensson (Central Arkansas), fourth-seeded Chieh Jessica Peng (Mississippi State), fifth-seeded Ji Eun Baik (Mississippi State) and No. 6 seed Meghan MacLaren (Florida International). Tee times each day will begin at 8:15 a.m.
