Volleyball Announces Spring Scrimmage Schedule

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State volleyball head coach Suzie Fritz announced the Wildcats’ spring slate of competition, with dates against Illinois and Minnesota along with tournaments in Kansas City and at Northern Iowa making up the packed April schedule.

The Wildcats, who started their full spring practices on Monday, will open their exhibition schedule on April 2 against Illinois at Truman State in Kirksville, Missouri. The Wildcats and Illini will train together in the morning before scrimmaging in the afternoon.

The following weekend, on April 9, K-State and UMKC will co-host a tournament at the Swinney Rec Center on the UMKC campus. A day full of matches, which starts at 9 a.m., will feature schools such as Arkansas, Arkansas State, KU, Missouri State, Omaha, Nebraska-Kearney, Rockhurst and Wichita State. The tournament is open to the public with free admission.

For the second weekend in a row, K-State will play in a tournament on April 16 as the Wildcats will travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa for an event hosted by Northern Iowa. In addition to the Wildcats and Panthers, teams scheduled to compete are Iowa, Iowa State, North Dakota State, Northern Illinois, Omaha and South Dakota.

The spring schedule concludes on April 23 when K-State and Minnesota square off in a co-practice and scrimmage at Indianola High School in Indianola, Iowa. It will be the second consecutive year the Wildcats and Golden Gophers meet in Indianola for spring training.

K-State features 13 letterwinners on its spring roster, including seniors Katie Brand, Kersten Kober, Katie Reininger and Brooke Sassin.

The 2016 regular season schedule will be announced later this spring.
