Weber Announces 2016 Summer Camp Schedule

MANHATTAN, Kan.
– Kansas State men’s basketball head coach Bruce Weber has announced his 2016 summer camp schedule for area youths on the university campus.

The 2013 Big 12 Coach of the Year, along with his coaching staff, will direct these summer camps, which begin with the Junior Wildcat (grades K-2nd) and Wildcat (grades 3rd-6th) Day Camps on Monday-Thursday, June 6-9. The camp season continues with two Father/Son Camps (grades K-6th) with the first running from Friday-Saturday, June 10-11 and second going from Saturday-Sunday, June 11-12. Other camps include the Powercat Day Camp on Monday-Thursday, June 13-16 and a two-day Team Camp on Saturday-Sunday, June 25-26.

All camps will be played at Bramlage Coliseum, the Ice Family Basketball Center and the newly-renovated Chester Peters Recreation Center on the K-State campus. These camps are open to any and all entrants, limited only by number, age and grade level. The camper’s grade level is the one heading into the 2016-17 school year.

The Junior Wildcat Day Camp, which runs from Monday-Thursday, June 6-9 from 9 am to noon, is available to kids in kindergarten through second grade at a cost of $105 per camper. The Wildcat Day Camp, which runs from Monday-Thursday, June 6-9 from 1-5 pm, is open to youngsters in third through sixth grade at a cost of $120 per camper. 

The two Father/Son Camps offer fathers and sons a great opportunity to spend a special weekend on either Friday-Saturday, June 10-11 or Saturday-Sunday, June 11-12. Emphasis will be on teaching fundamentals to the fathers, who in turn teach them to their son. Space is limited. The cost is $225 per pair and $100 for each additional child.

The Powercat Day Camp, which runs Monday-Wednesday, June 13-15 from 9 am to 4 pm, and Thursday, June 16 from 9 am to noon, is available to youth in fourth through ninth grade at a cost of $200 per camper. Each of the camps’ primary emphasis will be on basic fundamentals of dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding and defense, while preparing campers for middle school and high school basketball. 

The two-day Team Camp runs from Saturday-Sunday, June 25-26 is open to any and all high school teams of varsity, junior varsity or freshmen levels with a minimum of seven players per team. Meals and T-shirts will be provided to the campers and coaches, while teams are guaranteed a minimum of five games plus a single elimination playoff. There will be a chalk talk session for coaches with Weber and his staff on Friday followed by a coaches’ social. The cost is $115 per person for overnight campers and $90 for commuters.
