Weir Finishes 11th at Kansas City Shootout

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas State women's golfer Chloe Weir carded an 12-over par performance to finish in 11th place at the Kansas City Shootout at the par-72, 6,124-yard Shoal Creek Golf Club.

Weir carded three-straight rounds of 76 to finish with a 54-hole total of 228, the best score among all players in the field competing solely as individuals.

“Today’s conditions were certainly the toughest of the three rounds,” K-State assistant coach Stewart Burke said. “This was a solid week for Chloe, and although she finished just outside the top 10, there is plenty to build upon going forward. Coach (Kristi Knight) and I are looking forward to a quick turnaround in carrying some momentum into last event prior to Big 12.”

Weir’s 11th-place finish marked the best of her career and first top-20 finish. She is the fifth Wildcat this season to finish in the top 20 this season. The freshman from Belfast, Northern Ireland, finished play just one shot out of a top-10 finish.

Overtaking the leaderboard in the final round, Little Rock won the team championship with a score of 54-over par 918, two shots ahead of second-place Wichita State. Moving up six spots in the final round, UMKC’s Cynthia Daiz won the individual championship with a 4-over par 220.

The K-State women’s golf team will be back in action Friday and Saturday at the Texas Tech Invitational at the Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas.
