Wildcat Volleyball Camp Dates Announced for 2016

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State volleyball head coach Suzie Fritz announced this year’s slate of Wildcat Volleyball Camps, with a variety of sessions for youth players as well as coaches scheduled from March through July.

The first of two Junior Wildcat Camps kicks off the entire schedule on March 5 as players will be introduced to the fundamentals of volleyball in a Saturday morning session. Skills are developed in a fun way, with the three-hour session primarily focused on passing, setting, serving and digging. The second Junior Wildcat Camp is set for the afternoon of Saturday, June 11.

The All Skills and Elite Camps each have two sessions, with Session I taking place June 9-11 and Session II set for July 7-9. The All Skills Camp, for grades 6-12, offers instruction for volleyball players for all ability levels, focusing on skill development, offensive and defensive team systems, specialized position sessions and tournament play.

The Elite Camp, open to athletes in grades 9-12 with the desire to play at the collegiate level, features 15 hours of instruction in each session. Players receive comprehensive training and development in offensive and defensive team systems, specialized positions, and tournament play.

All campers in both the All Skills and Elite Camp, who can either commute or stay in the Ford Hall dormitory, will also receive a camp T-shirt and photo. The camps are separate sessions, so campers can attend either the June or July editions.

Players can also learn from the K-State coaching staff in a team setting as the Team Camp is scheduled for July 6-7 at the Kansas State Recreation Center. It is open to all junior high, high school and club teams and features personal training sessions as well as a competition in tournament-play format. Enrollment for the Team Camp is limited to 12 teams.

The Team Camp does not overlap with the All Skills and Elite Camps in July, meaning participants can register for both.

In addition to opportunities for players to learn, Fritz and the coaching staff will hold a Coaches Clinic on April 25. The clinic is for junior high, high school and club coaches.

Advance registration and payment is required. Camp participants can register and find more information at www.wildcatvolleyballcamps.com
