Talley Ties for Fifth in Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. – Kansas State junior women's golfer Madison Talley fired a 1-under par 71 on Saturday to finish in the top-5 for the fifth time in her career and third time this season during the final round of the MountainView Collegiate at MountainView Golf Club.

As a team, K-State carded a 7-over par 295 in the final round to finish in 11th place. The Wildcats tallied a 54-hole total of 28-over par 892. 

“It was a great finish by Madison in a strong field,” K-State head coach Kristi Knight said. “Today's round was an improvement from yesterday afternoon. We still had too many double bogeys.”

After shooting 71 in the final two rounds, Talley has recorded 10 rounds under par this season, a new career high.

Junior Katherine Gravel-Coursol carded a 6-over par 222 to tie for 24th place following a final-round score of 4-over par 76. Sophomore Connie Jaffrey finished in a tie for 34th after carding an 8-over par 224, including a 3-over par 75 on Saturday.

Rounding out the scoring lineup was junior Paige Nelson, who shot a 20-over par 236 to finish in 78th, while freshman Chloe Weir totaled a 21-over par 237 to finish in a tie for 79th place. Weir finished off the event with a 1-over par 73 final round.

Senior Scotland Preston, competing as an individual, finished play in a tie for 58th at 13-over par 229.

Georgia won the team title after firing a 5-under par 859, eight shots ahead of second-place Iowa State. The Bulldogs’ Jillian Hollis took the the individual title by shooting an 11-under par 205. 

The Wildcats continue their spring season next week, April 1-2, in the SMU/DAC Invitational at Dallas Athletic Club in Mesquite, Texas.
