Wildcats Head to Lincoln For Sevigne Husker Invitational

MANHATTAN, Kan. – After a pair top-five finishes at last weekend’s New Mexico Team Invitational, the No. 6 Kansas State women and the 24th-ranked men head to Lincoln, Nebraska to compete in the Sevigne Husker Invitational at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. 

Day one of competition kicks off on Friday with the men’s heptathlon at noon CT, followed by the start of the women’s pentathlon at 12:30 p.m. CT. Field events and track events also begin on Friday afternoon with the men’s weight throw at 4:30 p.m. CT and the women’s 60 meter hurdles prelims at 6 p.m. CT. 

Saturday kicks off with the completion of the men’s heptathlon and continues with field events and track events at noon CT. The event concludes with the meet’s award ceremony, which will take place at 5 p.m.

The field at this year’s invitational includes Big 12 rivals Kansas, Texas, Texas Tech and Iowa State, as well as other high profile teams such as UCLA, Arizona State, Auburn and Missouri. 

In its last meet, K-State recorded five first-place finishes over five different events and multiple athletes set new personal bests as the Wildcat men finished in third place with 71 points and the women finished in the fourth place with 75 points. 

Saturday’s events will be filmed by the Big Ten Network and will be aired on tape delay on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 1 p.m. (CT).
