Wildcats in Fourth After Play Suspended

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Kansas State women’s golf team is currently in fourth place as play was suspended during the second round of the Greenville Regional Preview on Monday at the par-72, 6,122-yard Brook Valley Country Club.

The Wildcats shot a 17-over par 305 in the first round before getting midway through their second round when play was suspended. K-State currently stands at 36-over par and is two shots behind third-place team Augusta and six shots back of Clemson for second.

“The team hung in there on a long, difficult day,” said head coach Kristi Knight. “I am confident we can come out strong tomorrow.”

The Wildcats were led by junior Connie Jaffrey, who is the current leader of the tournament at 1-over par midway through the second round. The Killwinning, Scotland, native carded a 1-under par 71 in the first round and holds a one-shot lead over Virginia Tech’s Jessica Spicer.

Seniors Katherine Gravel-Coursol and Paige Nelson are currently tied for 28th place at 11-over par, while sophomore Chloe Weir is two shots back of the duo and tied for 39th. Senior Madison Talley is in 86th place at 23-over par.

The second round of the Greenville Regional Preview will resume Tuesday at 8 a.m., and the third round will immediately follow. Live results can be followed at www.golfstat.com and results will be available atwww.kstatesports.com at the conclusion of play Tuesday.
