Wildcats Look to Challenge No. 3 Baylor

MANHATTAN, Kan. – After falling to No. 5 Oklahoma State on their home turf, the Kansas State equestrian team looks to rebound this Friday at 10 a.m., at Timbercreek Stables against No. 3 Baylor. Admission to the meet is free and open to the public.

“Baylor is going to be a tough opponent. They have had a very successful year so far,” said head coach Casie Maxwell. “Since the last meet, we have continued to focus on lessening the errors in each ride and staying confident in our home arena.

Last season, the Wildcats evened the series by upsetting the Lady Bears at Timbercreek Stables, 10-9, but faced off in the Big 12 Championship and fell just shy, 11-8. The Wildcats will look to pick up their 19th home meet victory in the last two seasons.

Junior Henley Adkins will look to guide the Hunt Seat team on Friday. Adkins has a record of 21-19-0, while picking up six MOP honors in her career.

Competing alongside her in both Equitation on the Flat and Equitation over Fences will be juniors Christina Martinelli and sophomore Halle Kutsche. The Hunt Seat is 1-1 on the season as they look to juniors Gretchen Koenen and Taylor Schmidt in Equitation on the Flat and sophomores Molly Dunn and Daniella McCormick in Equitation over Fences to pick up a point for the Wildcats.

Senior Danielle Kemper will look to lead the western team into the arena on Friday. Kemper, for the second time this season will be competing in both Horsemanship and Reining. Joining Kemper in Horsemanship will be juniors Sydney Anson and Alyssa Lombardi and sophomores Ashley Anderson, Paige Kemper and Taylor Serrano.

Accompanying Kemper in the Reining arena are seniors Kara Guy and Nicholle Hatton. Sophomore Brynn Critcher will join the triple threat in the Western arena as well as newcomer freshman Taylor Todd, who is now, 1-0, in her Wildcat career.
