Wildcats Remain in First Place After Day Two

LINCOLN, Neb. – Following a 13-over par 301 on Monday, the Kansas State women’s golf team remains in first place after the second round of play at the Chip-N Club Invitational at the par-72, 6,276-yard Wilderness Ridge Country Club.

Although Kansas State is still in first, the Wildcats saw their lead trimmed to only two strokes heading in to the final day. K-State holds a 36-hole score of 17-over par 593 heading into the final round, two strokes ahead of South Dakota State.

Sophomore Chloe Weir and senior Paige Nelson are leading the way for the Wildcats as they are tied for fourth place at 3-over par 147.

“The team continued to hit a lot of great shots today,” K-State head coach Kristi Knight said. “However, we were not able to capitalize on our opportunities and score. I am proud of this team, and we look forward to tomorrow.”

Senior Madison Talley is tied for 11th place at 5-over par 149. Junior Connie Jaffrey is tied for 16th place after two rounds, carding a 6-over par 150, while senior Katherine Gravel-Coursol is tied for 36th, shooting a 13-over par 157.  

South Dakota State’s Hallie Getz is the current leader at 1-over par 145 entering Tuesday’s final round.

The final round of the Chip-N Club Invitational begins at 8:45 a.m., with a shotgun start on Tuesday. Live results can be followed atwww.birdiefire.com and results will be available atwww.kstatesports.com at the conclusion of play Tuesday.
