Wildcats Return to Action in Norman

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State women's golf team will travel to Norman, Oklahoma, to compete in the Schooner Fall Classic, Saturday through Monday, at the par-71, 5,901-yard Belmar Golf Club.

The tournament will consist of single rounds of 18 holes all three days, with tee times each day beginning at 9:00 a.m. (CT). This is the third year of the Schooner Fall Classic and the first time the Wildcats will compete in the event.

Five members of the K-State squad will be competing in the event with Madison Talley, Scotland Preston, Paige Nelson, Katherine Gravel-Coursol and Connie Jaffrey making up the scoring lineup.

“The team is looking forward to competing,” head coach Kristi Knight said. “We have had a good week of preparation. This is a good event. It is a college tournament, but also a fundraiser for the Toby Keith Oklahoma Kids Korral, which provides housing for families dealing with cancer.”

In the Wildcats’ first event of the season, the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational, K-State took fourth place by carding a 26-over par 890. The Wildcats were led by Talley, who tied for fifth at 1-over par 217.

Kansas State will be joined by 11 other teams, which includes Florida State, Kansas, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Texas State, Troy, Tulsa and UTSA.
