Wildcats Return to Timbercreek Stables

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State equestrian begins the home portion of its 2015-16 schedule this weekend at Timbercreek Stables, as they face Big 12 foe and No. 6 ranked Oklahoma State on Friday at 10 a.m. Admission to the meet is free and open to the public.

“We are looking forward to being back home this weekend and having great support in our first home meet,” said head coach Casie Maxwell. “The team rode well last week at South Dakota State, so we are just focusing on building off of that and riding strong on our own horses.”

Last season, the Wildcats edged past the Cowgirls 2-1 in head-to-head battles. Kansas State will look to feed off last weekend’s season-opening victory at South Dakota State to continue their winning streak at home and pick up their 19th consecutive home meet victory in the last two seasons.

Junior Henley Adkins is coming off a 1-1 start to the 2015-16 season and will look to guide the Hunt Seat team on Friday. Adkins has a record of 21-17-0, while picking up six MOP honors in her career. Alongside her competing in both Equitation on the Flat and Equitation over Fences will be juniors Christina Martinelli, sophomores Molly Dunn and Halle Kutsche. Junior Alison Brunner will join the squad in the Fences arena and junior Gretchen Koenen will compete in Equitation on the Flat as they both look to bring home a point for the Wildcats.

K-State’s dynamic duo of senior Danielle Kemper and Kara Guy will lead the western team into the arena on Friday. Kemper, for the first time, will be competing in both Horsemanship and Reining. Joining Kemper in Horsemanship will be fellow senior Emily Castellini, juniors Sydney Anson and Alyssa Lombardi as well as sophomore Ashley Anderson

Guy was solid in the Reining arena last season. Fellow senior standout Nicholle Hatton and sophomore Brynn Critcher will join Guy and Kemper in the Western arena. The squad will also have freshman Taylor Todd, who won her first collegiate ride against South Dakota State. Last season, the Reining team outscored OSU’s Reining team, 8-5, in their three head-to head match ups.
