Women Finish 16th, Men 21st, at Midwest Regional Championships

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas State’s cross country teams finished the 2015 season with two top-25 finishes as the women’s team placed 16th and the men 21st at the Midwest Regional Championships on Friday.

Oklahoma State won the regional title on both the men’s and women’s side, two weeks after sweeping the Big 12 Championships on their home course.

“I was proud of our efforts today,” head coach Ryun Godfrey said. “I believe we made some good improvements this year and I look forward to the challenges of next year.”

Junior Morgan Wedekind was named to the Midwest All-Region team after finishing 23rd with a time of 20:56.6 in the women’s race. Kayla Doll and Paige Stratioti each recorded top-75 finishes, placing 71st and 73rd, respectively.

On the men’s side, Colton Donahue posted the Wildcats’ top finish, placing 55th with a time of 31:24.9. Jeff Bachman and Brett Bachman rounded out the ‘Cats top-3 racers, finishing 113th and 118th.

“This group is not afraid of working hard and so I very much enjoy coaching them,” Godfrey added. “They take a great deal of pride in representing K-State and they do so in a first-class manner.”
