MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State soccer put its final exhibition match to good use on Tuesday night at the K-State Soccer Complex, as the Wildcats shut out Washburn, 5-0.

After the team’s exchanged a shot on goal each in the opening 20 minutes of the match, the Wildcats broke through for their first goal of exhibition play. Redshirt freshman Elizabeth Hernandez sent in a beautiful pass to Tatum Wagner in the 24th minute, who proceeded to slide around Washburn goalkeeper Kaitlin Minnich and sent the ball into the net from 10 yards out for a 1-0 K-State lead.

Six minutes later, junior Jade Anderson collected a loose ball off a deflected corner kick and sent her shot into the upper right of the net to give K-State a 2-0 lead at the half.

The Wildcats continued to play downhill in the second half and increased its lead to 3-0 in the 54th minute. Junior Jaclyn Means collected a rebound off a Katie Cramer shot and sent it past Minnich from roughly seven yards out.

Just three minutes later, freshman Ashley Zane sent a header from eight yards out into the net following a crossing pass from Anderson. Anderson finished the night with three points.

Kansas State closed out its scoring effort in the 74th minute, as freshman Georgia Weigel tallied a goal off a corner kick from freshman Addie Jenkins.

Overall, K-State registered a 23-3 shot advantage, including a 12-0 difference in the second half. The Wildcats recorded a 7-0 differential in corner kicks.
