MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas State will begin its inaugural season in women’s soccer this weekend, as the Wildcats travel east to face Saint Louis and SIUE. K-State will take the field officially for the first time against the Bilikens on Friday, Aug. 19, at 7 p.m. The Wildcats will conclude its first weekend of action on Sunday, Aug. 21, against SIUE at 1 p.m.

Dibbini Enters First Season at K-State
• Kansas State announced the formation of its women’s soccer program on Oct. 12, 2014. With the monumental task of building a program from the ground up, K-State announced on Dec. 26, 2014, that Mike Dibbini would be the first head coach in program history.
• Dibbini has seen success at every stage of his coaching career. He owns a 265-78-31 (.750) career mark with eight seasons at Kansas Wesleyan (NAIA) and two seasons at Cal Poly Pomona (NCAA D-II).
• While at Kansas Wesleyan, Dibbini oversaw both the men’s and women’s soccer programs and guided the women’s program during his time at Cal Poly Pomona.
• The 2016 season will be Dibbini’s first season of coaching since the 2014 season at Cal Poly Pomona where he steered the program to a 15-6-1 record and a third round appearance in the 2014 NCAA Division II Championships.

Youth Dominates First K-State Roster
• K-State’s inaugural roster features 36 players, including 22 freshmen and seven sophomores.
• The Wildcats feature one senior on its first roster, Abbey Fiser, a transfer from Ball State.
• Dibbini’s first roster at K-State includes six original members of the program: as Kim Braddock (F/MF, R-So.), Krista Haddock (F, R-Fr.), Elizabeth Hernandez (F, R-Fr.), Miranda Larkin (GK, Jr.), Hali Sutter (D, R-So.), Madison Wedekind (MF, R-Jr.). The six players were on the roster during the 2015-16 season and trained during the season. All six players took a resdshirt season during the 2015-16 season.
• Haddock, Hernandez and Wedekind were the first signing class in K-State history in February of 2015.

First Captains in Program History
• Kansas State head coach Mike Dibbini has appointed three captains for the Wildcats’ debut season in 2016.
• The three captains are: junior goalkeeper Miranda Larkin, redshirt sophomore forward/midfielder Kim Braddock and redshirt sophomore defender Hali Sutter.
 
Notes about 2016 K-State Soccer Schedule
• Kansas State will play 11 different conferences in the 2016 season: four schools from the Missouri Valley Conference, three from the Summit League and one each from the Atlantic 10, Big 12, Big East, Ohio Valley, Horizon League, MAC, Southland, Sun Belt and WAC.
• In the first nine matches of the season, K-State will face nine different conferences.
• The Wildcats will play eight matches on the road to begin the season. K-State will make its home debut on Friday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m., against Northern Iowa.
• In total, K-State will travel 7,245 miles for its 12 road matches this season including 4,097 during the season-opening eight-match road trip.
