DeKalb, Ill. - Against the best collegiate runners in the world, junior Martina Tresch stepped up to the plate at the NCAA Midwest Reginal. Tresch recorded an eighth place finish with a time of 21:11.56.
The women's team ended its season with a 14th place finish with a total of 461 points.
Wichita State's Aliphine Tuliamuk won the women's race with a time of 20:40.68, while Iowa State won the meet as a team with a total of 64 points.
With her eighth place finish, Tresch has now placed in the top 12 in all races this season. Tresch will now have to wait to find out if her season will continue. She put herself into position to earn an invitation to the 2011 NCAA Championship as an individual. If Tresch earns a bid to the NCAA Championship, she will next compete on November 21 in Terre Haute, Ind.
The men's team finished the season by earning a 22nd place team finish. Senior Phillip Banowetz crossed the finish line in 84th place in a time of 33:39.26.
Oklahoma State claimed the team title with 42 points. The Cowboys had four runners place in the top 10. Minnesota's Hassan Mead was the top individual as he finished in first place in 31:16.87.
