MANHATTAN, Kan. – Sophomore Laura Galvan of the Kansas State women’s cross country team earns yet another honor during her impressive season. On Monday, she was named to the USTFCCCA All-Midwest Regional team.
To qualify for the All-Midwest Regional team, Galvan had to finish in the top 25 in the Midwest Region.
This is the first time Galvan has been named to the All-Midwest Regional team, and the fifth straight season the Wildcat women have had at least one runner on the NCAA All-Midwest Regional team.
Martina Tresch was named to the team in 2010 and 2011 as a sophomore and junior respectively. Sydney Messick earned All-Regional honors in 2010 as a senior. Beverly Ramos was named to the team in 2008 and 2009 as a junior and senior respectively as well.
Galvan finished in seventh with a time of 20:45.72 at the Midwest Regional Championships on Friday, allowing her to earn an at-large bid for the NCAA Championships.
The NCAA Championships are on Saturday at the E.P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky. Galvan will run the women’s 6K race at 11 a.m.
