Manhattan, Kan. – After recording one of her best finishes of the season at the Midwest Regional, junior Martina Tresch will cap her season at the NCAA Championship in Terre Haute, Ind, by earning an individual bid. Tresch finished eighth in her regional race on Saturday.
Head coach Michael Smith is excited to see how Tresch will fare against the top competition in the nation.
“She has had a great year,” he said. “I look forward to see some aggression and her competitive nature.”
Last season, K-State finished 25th as a team at the NCAA Championship and Tresch was an important part, finishing in 72nd place with a time of 21:09. Tresch should be very familiar with the course as she has run it once this season and twice last season.
Tresch will be the first individual to earn a bid to the NCAA Championships since former All-American Beverly Ramos in 2009. Tresch’s appearance will also mark the fourth consecutive season K-State has been represented in the NCAA Championship, which is set for November 21 at Indiana State in Terre Haute, Ind.
