MANHATTAN, Kan. – All of Martina Tresch’s hard work will be put to the test on Monday as she travels to Terre Haute, Ind,, for the NCAA Cross Country Championship. The women’s race is set to begin at 12:58 p.m. as she will compete with the best in the nation.

The junior was K-State’s No. 1 runner all season and will look to end the season with a great finish. Tresch will be one of 255 runners competing in the race.

Head Coach Michael Smith anticipates a strong season ending race from Martina.

“Martina has been consistently good all year,” Smith said. “If she runs like she has all year, she can finish in the top 40 to 50 and she will be in the hunt for All-American status.”

Tresch has faced many of her competitors already this season. Twelve of the teams that qualified for the championship meet were in the field at the Roy Griak Invitational where Tresch finished 10th. She should also be very familiar with the course as she has run the Terre Haute course several times in her career. Tresch competed on the course in the NCAA Championship meet last year and recorded a 72nd place finish.

The last time K-State had an individual compete at the NCAA Championship was in 2009 when former All-American Beverly Ramos finished 33rd. The best individual finish for K-State at the NCAA Championship was Amy Mortimer when she recorded a 19th-place finish in 2001.

The NCAA Championship can be seen live via webcast on www.NCAA.com. Fans can also follow @NCAA on twitter for updates.
