Wildcats rally with three in seventh and load bases in eighth

Junior (2011): Saw time in 26 games with eight starts as he was plagued by injuries... Went 5-for-31 (.161) at the plate with two RBI, while he worked five walks and was hit by three pitches... Went 2-for-3 against Pacific on Feb. 26... Was 1-for-2 with a season-high three runs scored against Western Illinois on March 4... Helped K-State top No. 12 Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship on March 27 as he recorded two RBI without an official at-bat - a RBI walk, a RBI sacrifice bunt, a catcher's interference and another sacrifice bunt.

Sophomore (2010): Saw his most extensive action as he was one of three players on the roster to see action in all 59 games, including 57 starts... Hit .282 with eight doubles, two home runs and 38 RBI... Was also 6-for-9 in stolen base attempts and was hit by 11 pitches... Tied for the team lead in two-out RBI and paced the squad with 14 infield hits, while he was third with 11 multi-RBI contests... Started each of the final 17 games of the season... Tallied four three-hit games, including a 3-for-4 outing with his first career grand slam against Nebraska on April 10... Also had a four-RBI contest with a homer against Chicago State on April 28 and three RBI in a game at Oklahoma on May 1... Recorded a double in four-straight games against Missouri (April 25 doubleheader) and Chicago State (April 27 and 28)... Recorded an outfield assist against Western Michigan, Missouri and Washington State (June 6)... Also recorded a team season high 19 putouts against Kent State on March 13... A First Team Academic All-Big 12 selection.

Redshirt Freshman (2009): Played in 13 games, including one start... Went 6-for-15 (.400) in limited action, with one home run and six RBI... Registered first career hit against Butler, a RBI single... Was 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI against Northwestern, while scoring one run... Also went 2-for-2 against North Dakota with his first career home run, three RBI and two runs scored... Named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Freshman (2008): Redshirt season... Named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Manhattan HS: Three-year letterwinner for the Indians under head coach Don Hess... Helped team to three regional championships and state playoff appearances... Team was state runner-up in 2005 and 2007 and took third place in 2006... Named All-Centennial League and all-region his sophomore, junior and senior seasons... Ended career with a senior-season batting average of .469... Also lettered two years in basketball.

Personal: Matthew Thomas Giller was born Dec. 16, 1988... Son of Tom and Mary Kevin Giller... Father, Tom, attended Kansas State... Has two younger siblings, Kurt and T.J... Kurt is a junior pitcher at Oral Roberts... Honored with the Distinguished Service Award by completing 100 or more hours of community service, as well as being named an honor student... Career aspirations are to play professionally, coach or become an athletic director... Majoring in marketing.
