Sophomore (2010): A Second Team All-Big 12 relief pitcher... Was 5-5 with a 3.90 ERA overall, but held a 2.41 ERA and limited opponents to a .188 batting average in 20 relief appearances... Saw action in 27 games to tie for seventh in school history... Began the season in the starting rotation, earning a win against Northeastern when he surrendered one run on four hits with no walks and six strikeouts in eight innings... Also limited Notre Dame to just two runs on nine hits with no walks and four punch outs in seven innings of work... Struck out a career high eight batters against Milwaukee on March 19 in a game that he surrendered his first walk of the season, breaking a 29.0-inning streak... Lone save of the season was against Baylor on April 18, allowing one hit with one strikeout in one inning... Threw one scoreless inning at Oklahoma on May 2 to begin a 17.1-inning streak without allowing an earned run until May 23 at Texas A&M... Pitched three or more innings of relief without allowing an earned run on four occasions as he did so at Missouri on April 25, against Kansas on May 16, at Texas A&M on May 21 and against Washington State in the NCAA Regional on June 6... Freshman (2009): Made 28 appearances - all in relief - earning a 2-2 record... His 28 appearances tied for fourth in school history in both single-season game appearances and single-season relief appearances... Helped the 2009 K-State pitching staff set the school record for strikeouts and rank second in school history in fewest walks per nine innings, third in ERA and tied for fifth in opponent batting average in the aluminum bat era... Was an excellent stopper as he limited just 36.8-percent of inherited runners to score... Also retired a team-best 78.9-percent (22-of-28) of first batters faced... Finished the season with a 6.39 ERA, allowing 22 earned runs on 41 hits with nine walks and 19 strikeouts in 31.0 innings of work...
