Evolved into one of the top closers in the Big 12 Conference... Named to the honorable mention All-Big 12 team by the league coaches... Ranked second on the team with 20 appearances during the season... Compiled a 4-4 record and 4.15 ERA with a team-best six saves in 43.1 innings pitched with 35 strikeouts and just 13 walks... His six saves ranked as the fifth-most in the Big 12 in 2002... Ranked third on the team in both ERA and wins, while opposing batter hit just .263 against him... Collected a 1-1 record and 6.23 ERA with a team-best four saves in Big 12 play in eight appearances with 14 strikeouts and 10 walks...
