Box Score - Game 3 of the Fall World Series
MANHATTAN, Kan. - The White team salvaged a win in the final game of the Fall World Series with a 2-1 decision over the Black team on Saturday at Tointon Family Stadium. The Black team took the series, however, two games to one.
Senior RJ Santigate provided the game-deciding run with a solo home run off the scoreboard in right field in the fourth inning. The homer was the only roundtripper by either side in the three-game series.
After freshman Jake Fromson allowed one run over four innings in the start, fellow first-year pitcher, Ethan Landon, tossed three shutout innings to earn the save. Fromson struck out two and walked one and surrendered four hits.
The White team tied it up in the bottom of the third when sophomore Jake Wodtke led off the frame with a double off the left field wall. Junior Shane Conlon moved Wodtke to third with a deep fly ball to right-center, and junior Kyle Speer plated Wodtke with an RBI groundout.
Senior Ross Kivett's RBI groundout to score sophomore Clayton Dalrymple in the top of the third gave the Black team a 1-0 lead. Dalrymple, who had a game-high three hits, opened the inning with a single and advanced to third on an infield single from junior transfer Carter Yagi.
Freshman Jon Roblez suffered the loss after allowing the Santigate homer. The right-hander allowed three hits over two innings while striking out three.
Freshman Braxton Wilks surrendered one run on five hits and two walks in three innings of his start for the Black team. Sophomore Landon Busch threw a scoreless sixth inning in relief of Roblez.
Freshman Tanner DeVinny had two of the White team's eight hits. Every hitter in the White team's lineup reached base safely at least once.
The Fall World Series is part of the final week of Fall Camp for the Wildcats. K-State concludes its fall slate of practices on Tuesday, November 12.
