MANHATTAN, Kan. - For the second year in a row, Austin Fisher of the K-State baseball team was one of 35 shortstops nationwide named to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List, the College Baseball Hall of Fame announced.

The Brooks Wallace Award, sponsored by Mizuno, recognizes the nation's top shortstop and will be presented during the National College Baseball Hall of Fame's Night of Champions on June 28 in Lubbock, Texas.

Fisher, a semifinalist for the nation's top shortstop honor in 2013, is batting .327 (52-for-159) with six doubles, two home runs, 29 RBI, six stolen bases, and 22 walks in 42 games this season. The junior is among the Big 12's leaders in runs (34, T-6th), hits (T-7th, 52), and OBP (.423, 8th). The native of Lenexa, Kan. has started all 42 of K-State's games this season at shortstop.

Fisher was one of four Big 12 shortstops named to the award's initial watch list as Donnie Walton (Oklahoma State), C.J. Hinojosa (Texas), and Tim Proudfoot (Texas Tech) were also recognized. Fisher leads all Big 12 shortstops in batting average.

Fisher and Wildcats return to Big 12 action tonight with their first ever trip to Morgantown to take on West Virginia. First pitch for game one of the three-game series is set for 6 pm ET/5 pm CT.
