MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State second baseman Ross Kivett has been named an All-Star for the prestigious Cape Cod League. A reserve infielder for the Eastern Division, Kivett is the first Wildcat to earn All-Star status in the CCL since right-handed pitcher Luke Robertson in 2001.

A product of Broadview Heights, Ohio, Kivett leads the Orleans Firebirds and ranks eighth in the league with a .341 batting average, while he has six doubles, two home runs and 12 RBI to go along with five steals. He has hits in 16 of his last 18 games, holding a .414 (29-for-70) batting average during that stretch.

Kivett’s best game of the summer came on July 15 against Yarmouth-Dennis when he went 4-for-5 with two doubles and a RBI, while he also hit a grand slam on July 8 against Bourne. The 2013 Big 12 Player of the Year has nine multi-hit games this summer, including two three-hit contests in addition to his four-hit performance.

Named an All-American by numerous outlets following the Wildcats’ 2013 campaign, Kivett hit .360 with 15 doubles, four triples, three home runs and 39 RBI during his junior season. Kivett was selected in the 10th round of the MLB Draft by the Cleveland Indians but opted to return to K-State for his senior campaign.

The 2013 Cape Cod League All-Star Game is set for Saturday, July 27, at 4:30 p.m. (ET). The game will be televised nationally by Fox College Sports.
