Kayvon Bahramzadeh (Rookie Arizona League: AZL Athletics/Oakland): A 24th-round selection this year by Oakland, Bahramzadeh bounced back from a few disappointing starts with a pair of decent outings last week for the AZL Athletics of the Rookie Arizona League... The right-hander allowed just one run over four innings as he worked around six hits last Monday at the AZL Angels... He then surrendered three runs but struck out five batters in four innings on Saturday at the AZL Diamondbacks... In nine games, including six starts, Bahramzadeh is 1-1 with an 8.28 ERA, while he has issued just three walks and struck out 30 batters in 25 innings... His 30 strikeouts are second in the AZL among pitchers that have thrown 25 or fewer innings... The AZL Athletics are tied for the eastern division lead with the AZL Cubs at 25-11.
Justin Bloxom (Double A: Harrisburg/Washington): Bloxom, a 2009 draft pick by Washington, tallied a pair of multi-hit games in five contests last week for the Harrisburg Senators of the Double A Eastern League... The third baseman went 2-for-4 with a double on Wednesday at Binghamton before another two-hit game with a double on Saturday against Richmond... In 43 games at the Double A level this season, Bloxom is hitting .236 with eight doubles, five home runs and 13 RBI... He was hitting .259 with 13 doubles, 12 homers and 34 RBI for High A Potomac before being promoted... His 12 homers for the P-Nats are still tied for 10th in the Carolina League... Harrisburg is tied for fourth in the Eastern League Western Division at 55-60.
Jake Brown (Rookie: Bristol/Chicago AL): A 30th-round selection in this year's draft by the Chicago White Sox, Brown recorded hits in each of his three games last week for the Bristol White Sox of the Rookie Appalachian League... He singled and scored on Monday against Elizabethton before consecutive two-hit games at Danville on Wednesday and at Bluefield on Saturday... The shortstop is hitting .231 (18-for-78) in 23 games with two doubles and four RBI... Bristol is in fifth place in the west division at 10-28.
Jared Goedert (Triple A: Columbus/Cleveland): Goedert played in four games last week for the Columbus Clippers of the International League... A ninth-round pick by Cleveland in 2006, he was 0-for-4 in each game and, after a walk on Tuesday against Rochester, his streak of 26-straight games reaching base safely came to an end... In 63 games in Triple A this season, Goedert is hitting .304 with 15 doubles, 10 home runs and 47 RBI... He began 2012 playing in Double A playing for Akron, hitting .395 (49-for-124) with 10 doubles, one triple, five homers and 17 RBI in 35 games... The Clippers are in second place in the International League West Division with a 61-55 mark.
Wade Hinkle (Rookie: Orem/Los Angeles AL): Hinkle, a 27th-round selection by the Los Angeles Angels this year, is still a tough out for Pioneer League pitchers as he has a hit in 16 of his last 19 games for the Orem Owlz, including three two-hit games last week... The first baseman doubled and drove in two runs Tuesday at Grand Junction and followed that with a two-hit, two-RBI game with a home run on Wednesday, and he finished the series against the Rockies with another two hits on Thursday... He continued his streak of two-hit games on Friday against Idaho Falls as he drove in four runs with another homer... In 44 games this season, Hinkle is hitting .323 (52-for-161) with 12 doubles, nine home runs and 38 RBI... Hinkle leads the Pioneer League with 41 runs scored, is tied for second in homers, ranks third in total bases (91) and walks (29), is tied for third in RBI, ranks fourth in OPS (on-base percentage plus slugging percentage; 1.009), fifth in slugging percentage (.656), sixth in on-base percentage (.443), is tied for seventh in doubles and tied for ninth in hits... Following a 17-21 first half of the season to tie for third in the south division, the Owlz lead the division with a 6-2 second-half record and are 23-23 overall.
Kyle Hunter (Low A: Clinton/Seattle): A 31st-round draft pick of Seattle last season, Hunter pitched twice out of the bullpen last week for the Clinton LumberKings of the Low A Midwest League... He tossed four no-hit innings with six strikeouts on Monday against Wisconsin before allowing a run on three hits with no walks and two strikeouts in 2.2 innings on Thursday at Cedar Rapids... The left-hander holds a 1-5 record despite a low 3.50 ERA in 30 games, allowing 25 earned runs in 64.1 innings with only six walks and 57 strikeouts... He ranks seventh in the Midwest League in strikeouts among pitchers that have not logged a start... Clinton is tied for the western division lead during the second half at 26-16 and is 49-61 overall.
Carter Jurica (High A: San Jose/San Francisco): Jurica recorded hits in all six games last week for the San Jose Giants of the High A California League... A third-round selection by San Francisco in 2010, Jurica went 3-for-5 on Tuesday against Bakersfield before a hit in each of the next five games, including a homer on Wednesday and a double on Saturday... Jurica is hitting .289 in 82 games this season with 13 doubles, three triples, four home runs and 42 RBI... San Jose is in third place in the north division during the second half with a 21-22 record, just three games out of first place... The Giants are 59-54 overall.
Jason King (Low A: West Michigan/Detroit): Like Jurica, King recorded hits in all six games last week for the West Michigan Whitecaps of the Low A Midwest League... A fourth-round pick by Detroit last season, King singled the first four games, including a double on Friday against Lake County, before a two-hit contest with a double at Lancaster on Saturday and another single on Sunday... The third baseman is hitting .261 in 62 games this season with 16 doubles, a triple, four home runs and 22 RBI... West Michigan is sixth in the eastern division with a 20-22 second-half record and is an even 56-56 overall.
Dan Klein (Class A Short-Season: Vancouver/Toronto): Klein, a 28th-round pick by Toronto this year, played in three games last week for the Vancouver Canadians of the Class A Short-Season Northwest League... He went hitless but scored a run against Salem-Keizer on Wednesday before a base hit and another run against the Volcanoes on Thursday... In 27 games this summer, Klein is hitting .227 (20-for-88) with four doubles, four home runs and 15 RBI... Vancouver leads the west division during the second half at 9-4 and is 31-19 overall.
Evan Marshall (Double A: Mobile/Arizona): A fourth-round selection by the Arizona Diamondbacks last season, Marshall pitched twice last week for the Mobile BayBears of the Double A Southern League... He worked around a hit for a scoreless inning with a strikeout on Tuesday against Jacksonville before allowing two runs on two hits with two walks in one inning at Birmingham on Friday... In 35 games, Marshall, Arizona's Minor League Pitcher of the Month for June, is 5-1 with a 2.27 ERA and 16 saves, which ranks third in the Southern League... The right-hander has allowed just 10 earned runs on 41 hits in 39.2 innings with 10 walks and 21 strikeouts... The BayBears, who won the first-half south division title, are in fifth place during the second half at 17-26, while Mobile is 57-56 overall.
Nick Martini (Low A: Quad Cities/St. Louis): A seventh-round selection of St. Louis last year, Martini carded three multi-hit games last week for the Quad Cities River Bandits of the Low A Midwest League... The outfielder went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI on Wednesday against Peoria and finished out his week with back-to-back two-hit games at Burlington, including another double on Sunday... In 106 games this season, Martini is hitting .247 with 16 doubles, two triples, two home runs and 43 RBI... The Crystal Lake, Ill., product is tied for second in the Midwest League runs scored (71), while he is fourth in walks (60)... The River Bandits are tied for fifth in the western division during the second half at 20-22 and are 55-56 overall.
A.J. Morris (High A: Daytona/Chicago NL): Morris, who has turned into the full-time closer for the Daytona Cubs of the High A Florida State League, combined for three scoreless innings over two outings last week... A fourth-round draft choice of Washington in 2009, the right-hander earned the save on Tuesday against Fort Myers as he worked around a hit and struck out two batters... He also tossed two no-hit innings against the Miracle on Thursday with a walk and a strikeout... Morris is 4-2 with a 2.55 ERA and four saves in 33 relief appearances this season... The right-hander has allowed 12 earned runs on 28 hits in 42.1 innings to go along with 13 walks and 35 strikeouts... Daytona is 20-24 during the second half and 50-62 overall.
Carlos Torres (MLB: Colorado): Torres, who has turned into one of the most-used relievers for the Colorado Rockies, pitched three times last week... The right-hander tossed an inning against St. Louis on Wednesday, allowing two runs... He also gave up three runs on three hits against San Francisco on Thursday and one run in 2.2 innings against the Giants on Sunday... A 15th-round pick of the White Sox in 2004, Torres is 1-0 with a 3.57 ERA in 14 appearances for Colorado, allowing nine earned runs on 14 hits with 11 walks and 18 strikeouts in 22.2 innings... Colorado is fifth in the National League West Division at 38-68... Torres has pitched in 14 games for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Triple A) this season with 13 starts, holding a 5-4 record and a 3.98 ERA.
