MANHATTAN, Kan. - After being one of the league's top hitters through the first 45 games of the season, former Wildcat Ross Kivett was named a New York-Penn League All-Star.

Kivett and the North Division All-Stars will take on the Southern Division on August 19 at MCU Park, home of the Brooklyn Cyclones.

Kivett, one of six outfielders selected to the North Division squad, is batting .291 (53-for-182) with nine doubles, one triple, one home run and 24 RBI through 45 games this season with the Connecticut Tigers. His 53 hits are tied for sixth in the league while he is tied for second on his team in RBI.

After hitting .271 in his first 11 games as a professional, Kivett turned in a month of July in which he hit .305 (32-for-105) with 16 RBI. He hit his first professional home run on July 31 at Williamsport.

The Broadview Heights, Ohio native was one of five Tigers selected for this year's NYPL All-Star Game. Connecticut is 29-26 this season, currently seven games back of first-place Tri-City ValleyCats (Houston).

A sixth round draft pick by the Detroit Tigers in this year's draft, Kivett left K-State as the program's record-holder in career stolen bases while he ranks in the top 10 in several other career categories, including games, hits and triples.
