MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas State men's basketball coach Bruce Weber will offer six camps this summer for area youths on the university campus.
The 2013 Big 12 Coach of the Year and his coaching staff will direct these camps, which includes the High School Shootout on June 8 and two-day High School Shootout on June 27-28, the Powercat Camp on June 10-13, two Father-Son Camps on June 14-15 and June 15-16 and Junior Wildcat Camp on June 17-20. All camps will be played at Bramlage Coliseum and the brand-new Basketball Training Facility on the K-State campus. These camps are open to any and all entrants, limited only by number, age and grade level. The camper's grade level is the one heading into the 2013-14 school year.
The High School Shootout kicks off the summer camp season on Saturday, June 8. The camp is open to any and all high school teams of varsity, sophomore, freshmen or junior varsity levels. The entry fee is $35 per camper with each team being guaranteed four games with a meal and T-shirts provided.
The second High School Shootout is a two-day event from Thursday-Friday, June 27-28 for high school teams with an eight-game guarantee. Meals and T-shirts will be provided to the campers and coaches, while they will be able to watch a K-State individual workout. There will be a chat session with Weber on Thursday followed by a coaches' social. The cost is $100 per person for overnight campers and $75 for commuters.
The Father-Son Camps offer fathers and sons (ages kindergarten through sixth grade) a great opportunity to spend a special weekend together on either Friday-Saturday, June 14-15 or Saturday-Sunday, June 15-16. Emphasis will be on teaching fundamentals to the fathers, who in turn teach them to their son. Space is limited to the first 100 Father and Son pairs who register. The cost is $220 per pair and $100 for each additional child.
The two day camps, Junior Wildcat and Powercat, are open to kids in kindergarten through sixth grade. The Powercat Camp, which runs from Monday-Thursday, June 10-13 from 1-5 pm at a cost of $115, is available to kids in third through sixth grade. The Junior Wildcat Camp, which runs from Monday-Thursday, June 17-20 from 9 am to noon, is open to youngsters in kindergarten through second grade at a cost of $100. Both camps' primary emphasis will be on basic fundamentals of dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding and defense.
