MANHATTAN, Kan. – Rising sophomore Jack Karapetyan (pronounced CARE-ah-pet-YAN) has received a medical hardship waiver for the 2013-14 season after playing in just six games due to a foot injury, the school and Big 12 Conference announced on Monday.

The native of Los Angeles, California, Karapetyan signed with K-State in July 2013 after one season at Cathedral Prep. He saw time in just six games as a true freshman in 2013-14 for a total of 20 minutes, scoring his first points on a field goal against Central Arkansas in four minutes of action on Dec. 1, 2013.

K-State is coming off yet another successful campaign in 2013-14, which saw the Wildcats advance to the NCAA Tournament for a school-record fifth consecutive season and post its eighth straight 20-win season. The squad finished the season with a 20-13 overall record, including a fifth-place finish in Big 12 play with a 10-8 mark.

The Wildcats return nine lettermen, including five with starting experience, in 2014-15 to go along with Division I transfers Justin Edwards and Brandon Bolden and newcomers Malek Harris, Tre Harris and Stephen Hurt. Overall, the team returns more than 70 percent of its scoring and 65 percent of its rebounding.
