MANHATTAN, Kan. – Rising junior Brian Rohleder was honored for his academic excellence on Monday, as he selected to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court for the 2013-14 season.

To be eligible for the Honors Court, a student-athlete must be either a junior or senior academically and must boast a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2013-14 academic year.

Rohleder was among a record-number 895 student-athletes from 335 colleges and universities to earn the distinction, including 14 from Big 12 institutions.

It is yet another honor for the mechanical engineering major from Wichita, Kansas, who has appeared on every Fall and Spring Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll since his freshman season in 2011-12. The current President of K-State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and current student-athlete representative on the President’s Advisory Committee on Athletics, he has won the team’s Keith Amerson Academic Award each of the past three years.

Rohleder saw action in 18 games in 2013-14, including eight Big 12 contests, scoring two points and grabbing three rebounds in 31 minutes. He helped the Wildcats advance to the NCAA Tournament for a school-record fifth consecutive season and post its eighth straight 20-win season.

He is among nine returning lettermen for K-State with five boasting starting experience in 2014-15 to go along with Division I transfers Justin Edwards and Brandon Bolden and newcomers Malek Harris, Tre Harris and Stephen Hurt. Overall, the team returns more than 70 percent of its scoring and 65 percent of its rebounding.
