MANHATTAN, Kan. – Fresh off an upset of No. 8/9 Florida, Kansas State made its first appearance in The Associated Press Top 25 on Monday checking in at No. 25 with 152 points.

In addition to the No. 25 ranking in the AP poll, K-State (9-2) received the third-highest point total (22) among teams receiving votes in the USA Today Coaches Top 25 poll.  It is the first ranking of the season for the Wildcats and the first since coming in at No. 22 on Jan. 23, 2012.  The program has now been ranked at least one week in each of the last four seasons, a feat which has not happened since doing it six straight years from 1972-78.

Earlier in the day on Monday, senior Rodney McGruder earned Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week honors for the second time in three weeks after helping the Wildcats to wins over Texas Southern and No. 8/9 Florida last week.  He averaged a team-best 19.5 points on 55.2 percent shooting (16-of-29) with 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals in 36 minutes per game.

The 67-61 win over No. 8/9 Florida in the Hy-Vee Wildcat Classic was the first regular-season, non-conference Top 10 victory since knocking off No. 8 Minnesota at home, 62-52, on Dec. 21, 1981.  Overall, it was just the 12th non-conference Top 10 win in school history, including the seventh in the regular season.

The Wildcats conclude non-conference play with two home games in a three-day span against UMKC (4-8) on Saturday, Dec. 29 and South Dakota (5-8) on Monday, Dec. 31 before opening the Big 12 schedule against No. 22/22 Oklahoma State (10-1) on Saturday, Jan. 5.

Tickets for all three games are still available for as low as $20 each, while fans can purchase four or more general admission tickets for $15 each with a group rate of $10 each for 12 or more tickets.  Fans can also watch all three games for only $40 with the Holiday Mini-Plan, which includes a general admission ticket to the UMKC, South Dakota and OSU games.  Tickets can be purchased at (800) 221.CATS or online at www.kstatesports.com/tickets.
