2000 (Junior) - Earned PAUL COFFMAN AWARD given for outstanding spring workouts in the weight room... Lettered after appearing in all 14 games for Wildcats... Solid special-teams player who blocked a punt vs. Oklahoma (10/14) that was returned for a touchdown by Terence Newman... Finished season as top tackler on special teams with 15 tackles, including 11 unassisted... Had at least one tackle in nine different games... Had career-high 1-2-3 tackle chart against Texas Tech (10/21)... Credited with 12 punt-return yards on punt block vs. Oklahoma... Also had a kick return for zero yards.

1999 (Sophomore) - Earned second letter after performing as a special teams standout... Had three unassisted tackles on special teams.

1998 (Freshman) - Limited action as a backup receiver, but lettered as a special teams player.

1997 - Redshirt season as non-scholarship player.

Cheney HS - Was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter at Cheney... Also lettered four times in basketball and track... As a junior, earned All-Central Plains League honors as a quarterback and defensive back, was an all-area selection by the Hutchinson News, and honorable mention all-state pick by the Wichita Eagle and Kansas Sports Magazine... As a senior, was an all-league pick at quarterback and defensive end, an all-area pick by the Hutchinson News and an all-state pick by the Wichita Eagle and Kansas Sports Magazine... High school coach was Curtis Conrad.

In basketball, was an all-league pick three years, and an all-state selection three years by the Topeka Capital-Journal, Wichita Eagle and Kansas Sports Magazine after scoring 1,252 career points and averaging better than 18 points each of his last three seasons... Was a two-time state champ in the 300-meter hurdles, and member of three-time champion 4x400 meter relay squad... Set state records in both events.

Personal - Born Jan. 18, 1979... Parents are Lynn and Stephanie Thalmann... A member of the honor roll all four years, served on the student council and was a member of the National Honor Society at Cheney... Plans on a future in farming following his K-State career... Majoring in agronomy.

Bowl Performances - Credited with a tackle on special teams at the 2001 Southwestern Bell Cotton Bowl Classic.
