MANHATTAN, Kan. - Fourteen Kansas State football players have been named player representatives for the 2014 season, head coach Bill Snyder announced at halftime of Saturday's men's basketball game against Iowa State.
Dante Barnett, Travis Britz, Jack Cantele, Dalton Converse, Randall Evans, B.J. Finney, Weston Hiebert, Tyler Lockett, Ryan Mueller, Curry Sexton, Boston Stiverson, Jonathan Truman, Jake Waters and Cody Whitehair were chosen by their teammates to serve as player representatives for the program in 2014. Finney is a player representative for the fourth time, while Sexton was chosen for the third time. Britz, Mueller, Lockett and Truman are player representatives for a second-straight season.
The role of these leaders will be to promote those traits which they each possess: unselfishness, team concepts, unity, strong work habits, great attitude and a strong commitment toward achieving success through the team's 16 goals.
"I am very honored to introduce the player representatives," Snyder said. "This is a very special group of young men. I am truly proud of this group for displaying tremendous determination and never-give-up spirit in creating what many consider the greatest in-season turnaround in college football history last season."
Kansas State opens up spring practices on Wednesday, April 2, and will conclude with the annual Purple/White Spring Game on Saturday, April 26. The Wildcats are coming off an 8-5 season in 2013 that was capped with a victory over Michigan in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl as Kansas State became just the eighth team in the BCS era (1998) to start a season 2-4 or worse and finish with eight victories.
Season tickets for the 2014 campaign are on sale now, and fans can purchase tickets by contacting the K-State Athletics Ticket office online at www.k-statesports.com/tickets, by phone at 1-800-221-CATS or by visiting the main ticket office inside Bramlage Coliseum.
The Wildcats open their seven-game home schedule on Saturday, August 30, against Stephen F. Austin. Following a trip to Iowa State on Saturday, September 6, and a bye week, Kansas State hosts 2013 BCS National Championship Runner-Up Auburn on Thursday, September 18, in a nationally-televised matchup on ESPN.
