Aug. 24, 2010
MANHATTAN, Kan. – Senior long snapper Corey Adams was one of 30 Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) players that were named a candidate for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award on Tuesday. The award recognizes NCAA Division I seniors that have obtained notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition. “The young men in our football candidate class are excellent examples of student-athletes who spend quality time helping improve their communities,” said Tom Lamb, Lowe’s senior vice president of marketing. “We are pleased to recognize them and excited to see what they accomplish during their senior seasons.” One of the top long snappers in the nation, Adams has appeared in all 36 games during his Wildcat career and has been perfect on a combined 356 snaps, including 69 field goal/PAT attempts and 55 punt snaps last season. For his efforts, Adams was named Kansas State’s Special Teams Player of the Year in 2009. As a true freshman in 2007, the Monument, Colo., product connected on a career-high 75 field goal/PAT attempts. Adams has also excelled in the classroom and in the community. A marketing major who is also working towards a minor in leadership, Adams is a two-time First Team Academic All-Big 12 selection and holds a 3.317 cumulative GPA. He has also participated in various community service projects throughout his time in Manhattan, including: Senior Cats, Junior Cats, Haiti Relief truck loading, TAPS program with Fort Riley, Special Olympics and cleanup after a tornado damaged a Manhattan neighborhood in the summer of 2008. Kansas State opens the 2010 season on September 4 with a nationally-televised matchup against UCLA. Fewer than 2,000 seats remain available as the Wildcats look to sell out the Second Annual K-State Family Reunion.
