MANHATTAN, Kan. - Following a 5-1 start to the 2010 campaign, Kansas State checked in at No. 22 in the season's first Bowl Championship Series standings released Sunday by the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame.

The BCS ratings are calculated by averaging the percentage totals of the Harris Interactive Poll, USA Today Poll, and computer rankings. K-State, which has collected non-conference wins over UCLA and UCF to go along with its 2-1 Big 12 record, checked in at No. 27 in this week's USA Today and AP polls, ranked 25th in the Harris Poll and was ranked 19th according to the computer ratings.

K-State was one of six Big 12 schools to make the list as Oklahoma topped the list at No. 1, Missouri ranked 11th, Oklahoma State 14th, Nebraska 16th and Texas 19th.

The BCS is a five-game arrangement for post-season college football that is managed by the 11 Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) conferences and institutions. Its purpose is to match the top two teams a bowl game and to create exciting matchups in four other games.

K-State will face another road test on Saturday when it travels to Waco, Texas, to face the Baylor Bears (5-2). Kickoff is set for 2:35 p.m. at Floyd Casey Stadium.
