MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas State senior punter Mark Krause is one of 85 candidates for the Ray Guy Award as the nation's top collegiate punter, the Augusta Sports Council announced Friday.

Krause is just the third punter in K-State history to be identified as a candidate for the award as Tim Reyer was a preseason candidate in 2006 and a semifinalist in 2007, while Ryan Doerr was a preseason candidate in 2011.

In his first season as the full-time punter, Krause is averaging 43.2 yards on 21 punts, including nine that have been downed inside the 20-yard line and three that have traveled 50 yards. His season average currently ranks sixth in school history. He ranks sixth in the Big 12 in both average and punts inside the 20 as the conference landed all 10 punters on the candidate list.

K-State hosts West Virginia Saturday in a 2:45 p.m., game Saturday at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Following the Homecoming contest, the Wildcats are at home again next Saturday at 2:30 p.m., as they take on Iowa State. Scattered singles remain for the game against the Cyclones and those tickets can be purchased though the K-State Athletics Ticket office online at www.k-statesports.com/tickets, by phone at 1-800-221-CATS or at the main ticket office inside Bramlage Coliseum.
