The premier land grant university in the country, K-State offers over 250 majors and options in 9 different colleges. No matter which you choose, the quality of a K-State education can be found both in the achievements of its students and by the accolades of its faculty.

Since 1986, K-State has won more Rhodes, Marshall, Truman, Goldwater and Udall scholarships than any other public university in the United States. K-State trails only 5 private institutions in top scholarship awards: Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Princeton, and Duke.

K-State is the only research university in the United States to have three national CASE/Carnegie professors of the year. All three are active teachers: Michael Wesch, 2008 national winner; Chris Sorensen, 2007 national winner; and Dean Zollman, 1996 national winner.

 A National Leader in Biodefense

Kansas State University has been selected as the future home of the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF).

The $650 million research facility will provide the country with an urgently needed, state-of-the-art lab to protect the food supply
and agriculture economy.

Construction was also recently completed on K-State's $53.4 million Biosecurity Research Institute, making the University a national leader in the fight against bio terrorism.

 Success in the Classroom

K-State saw a school record 11 football players
earn first-team honors, while five others were named to the second team as the Big 12 Conference announced its 2011 Academic All-Big12. The Wildcats broke the school record of 10 first-team selections by the 2000 team, while they totaled the second-most in school history to the 17 selected in 2000.

This continues a long tradition of academic excellence at K-State, the finest land grant university in the nation. Kansas State's football and all-sports graduation rates have led the Big 12 Conference in each of the last four years.

Head Coach Bill Snyder has established a track record of encouraging academic achievement, and the effort of those student-athletes has not gone unnoticed. K-State has had 11 Academic All-America selections under Bill Snyder, plus eight CFA National Scholar-Athletes.

In 2011 DB Tysyn Hartman was named a First Team Academic All-American and was a finalsit for the Campbell Trophy, also known as the "Academic Heisman".

According to Diverse magazine, K-State ranks 10th in the nation among all Division I football programs, and tops in the Big 12, in graduating African-American student-athletes.

At Kansas State, being a champion is more than winning trophies on the field. It is about being a champion in the classroom, and most importantly, becoming a champion in life.

K-State's program of Student Services for Intercollegiate Athletics assists, directs, supports and promotes student development, academic achievement, academic athletic eligibility and progress toward graduation. The unit assists student-athletes through its new student orientation program, offers academic counseling and academic skills training, assists with developing class schedules and graduation timelines, tracks academic progress and provides tutoring and mentoring services through its superior academic facility for student-athletes - the Academic Learning Center.The Academic Learning Center provides athletes academic support with 6 full-time academic counselors and over 60 academic tutors.

 Second Wind Program

Under the Second Wind program, former student-athletes are contacted and encouraged to complete their degree by either returning to Kansas State or attending a college or university close to their residence.

Second Wind ProgramAthletic academic counselors and the academic advisors from your college or major can assist you in planning your return, guide you through the preparation for completing degree requirements, and outline the exact credit hours or semesters you will need. K-State coaches and counselors will provide you with information for re-admission, financial aid, local housing, and possible employment. Before you arrive on campus, you can have a detailed plan for your class schedule, graduation time line, and necessary arrangements for student living.

We are committed to abiding by all rules and regulations of these bodies.
