SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Kansas State men's golf team turned in a 12-over par 604 and currently sits in a tie for ninth place at the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational. The Wildcats ended Monday's action gridlocked with Sam Houston State but sit just five shots behind East Carolina, which is currently in fifth place.

"I wish our scores were lower because I thought we played a little bit better than they indicated," said head coach Tim Norris. "The course played tough, the conditions were tough and the scores showed that, but overall, I saw some good things."

K-State was led by senior Daniel Wood and junior Kyle Weldon who each carded a 5-over 149 to end the day tied for 22nd place. Senior Alex Carney is tied for 41st place as he tallied a 9-over 153 during Monday's action.

Rounding out the scoring lineup for the Wildcats were junior David Klaudt and freshman Seth Smith who are both currently tied for 61st place at 12-over 156.

Oklahoma ended Monday's two rounds of play atop the team leaderboard at a 3-over 579. The Sooners are led by Michael Schoolcraft, who is tied for first place individually with Baylor's Kyle Jones at a 4-under 140.

Tuesday's final round is currently in jeopardy due to cold and rainy weather predicted to enter the San Antonio area.  If the teams are able to play, live scoring of the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational can be found at golfstat.com while updates will be available at kstatesports.com following Tuesday's final round of competition.
