PALM DESERT, Calif. - The Kansas State men's golf team tied for 15th place at 15-over 879 in the 2014 Wyoming Desert Collegiate, after firing a final-round 5-over 293 at The Classic Club on Sunday.

"There was some good and some bad. This weekend was a good examination of where we are at, and this course really tested everything," head coach Tim Norris said. "Overall, it was a good trip and we will look to keep progressing."

Daniel Wood led the Wildcats by thing for 25th place with a score of 2-under 214, while Connor Knabe - who competed as an individual - tied for 36th at even-par 216.

"I was really pleased with Connor Knabe this weekend," Norris said. "He has unlimited potential and the sky is the limit for him. I am just happy to see the way that he is progressing."

Rounding out the Wildcat scoring lineup were Seth Smith, Kyle Weldon and Alex Carney. Smith recorded a 6 over 222 to tie for 68th place, while Weldon and Carney tied for 100th and 103rd place, respectively.

Oregon took home top team honors after firing a 27-under 837. TCU's Julien Brun finished atop the individual leaderboard at 13-under 203.

K-State will have a week off before returning to California to compete in the Del Walker Intercollegiate, March 3-4, at the Virginia Country Club in Long Beach, Calif.
