GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Kansas State men’s golf team sits in eighth place after recording a 10-over 586 in the first two rounds of the WSU Snowman Getaway at the par-72, 7,015-yard Palm Valley Golf Club Monday.

"We struggled a little bit this afternoon after getting off to a pretty good start in the morning,” said head coach Tim Norris. “We are just not quite there yet, but hopefully we can rebound tomorrow.  We need to get everybody going in the right direction and start having more under-par rounds.”

Senior and co-captain Curtis Yonke led the Wildcat scoring lineup as he carded an even-par 144 to finish Monday’s opening round action in an eight-way tie for 17th place. Joining Yonke in the same position was junior Daniel Wood, who also fired an even-par 144.

Ben Juffer carded a 5-over 149 to end the first day of play tied for 45th place. Sophomore Kyle Weldon and freshman Matt Green rounded out the K-State scoring lineup as the duo currently sit in a tie for 51st and a tie for 67th, respectively. Playing as an individual, junior David Klaudt carded a 12-over 156 to join Green in a tie for 67th place.

Washington State’s Michael Anderson currently sits in sole possession of the tournament lead after firing an 8-under 136 to lead a group of four golfers who are tied for second place at 5-under 139. Missouri sits atop the team leaderboard following a 36-hole score of 11-under 565.
