FRESNO, Calif. - The Kansas State men's golf team sits in 10th place after firing a 6-over 726 in the opening two rounds of the 2013 Fresno State Lexus Classic at the par-72, 6,570-yard Belmont Country Club on Monday. Senior Curtis Yonke continue his solid play as he currently sits in a seven-way tie for ninth place after recording a 3-under 141.

"We hope to capitalize and have a solid five scores tomorrow, with a couple of lower scores to move up and out of the middle of the pack," said head coach Tim Norris. "It was a decent round today, but when you have conditions like this, you have to really maximize your opportunities and we will look to do that tomorrow."

Yonke has been the Wildcats' most consistent golf so far this spring as he has finished in the top 25 in both events of this half of the year. Yonke is tied for second place on the team in scoring average this year at 73.00.

Matt Green is currently tied for 34th place after he carded a 1-over 145 over the first two rounds of Monday's action. Green's first-round 72 marked the sixth-consecutive event that he has tallied an even-par score or better this season.

Kyle Weldon sits in nine-way tie for 42nd after shooting a 2-over 146 on Monday. Rounding out the K-State scoring lineup was is Daniel Wood and David Klaudt, who are in a tied for 51st, and Ben Juffer, who is tied for 95th.

California currently leads the field by a wide margin at 26-under 694, 22 shots ahead of host Fresno State. Cal's Michael Kim heads into Tuesday's final round atop the leaderboard at 11-under 133.
