SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The Kansas State men's golf team improved three shots from round one to round two Monday and currently sits in a tie for eighth place at 13-over 573 after two rounds of the 2014 Wyoming Cowboy Classic at the par-70, 7,133-yard Talking Stick Golf Club. Kyle Weldon and Daniel Wood led the Wildcats as the duo enters Tuesday's final round tied for 11th place at 1-under 139.

K-State carded a first-round score of 8-over 288 before turning in a 5-over 285 over the second round to sit 13 shots behind team leader, Oklahoma.

"I was awfully pleased with the play of Kyle and Daniel and the other guys just kind of hung in there," said head coach Tim Norris. "Tomorrow is another opportunity to put four good scores together. If we do that, I think we will have a chance to move up a little bit closer to the top."

Weldon fired a first-round even-par 70 and followed that up with a 1-under 69. Wood carded a 2-over 72 during the first round and finished the second round at 3-under 67.

Connor Knabe and Seth Smith ended Monday's play tied for 59th place. The duo will enter the final round of competition at 8-over 148. David Klaudt (T72nd) rounded out the Wildcat scoring lineup by finishing at 9-over 149.

Gonzaga's Sean Walsh currently sits atop the individual leaderboard at 7-under 133, one stroke ahead of UC Davis golfer Josh Granger.

Final-round action of the 2014 Wyoming Cowboy Classic will begin Tuesday morning with a 7:30 a.m. (PT) shotgun start. Live results will be available at golfstat.com, while recaps and updates will be posted at kstatesports.com at the conclusion of Tuesday's play.
