SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The Kansas State men's golf team turned in an 18-over 858 on Tuesday to finish in sixth place in the 2014 Wyoming Cowboy Classic at the par-70, 7,133-yard Talking Stick Golf Club. Senior Daniel Wood carded a three-round score of 4-under 206 - his best finish of the season - to tie for fourth place.

"Daniel had a really nice tournament and that is good to see from one of your seniors," said head coach Tim Norris. "We counted a high fourth score and those are the difference makers, but I was pleased with how the guys battled back today."

Wood's total score of 206 included back-to-back 67s in the second and third rounds, which tied for the lowest final two-round score of the tournament.

Kyle Weldon carded a final-round score of 1-over 71 to tie for 14th place at even-par 210. Seth Smith turned in a 10-over 220 to tie for 59th place, while David Klaudt recorded a 14-over 224 to tie for 72ndplace. Connor Knabe closed out the scoring for the Wildcats as he tallied a 16-over 226.

Oklahoma claimed top team honors as the Sooners fired a 9-under 831. Overall individual champion, Michael Gellerman, finished at 6-under 204 to pace OU.

K-State will have two and a half weeks away from competition before traveling to Trinity, Texas, to compete in the 2014 Big 12 Championship, April 25-27, at the Whispering Pines Golf Club.
