MANHATTAN, Kan. - Current Kansas State golfers Ben Juffer, Kyle Weldon and Curtis Yonke were crowned champions in their respective tournaments this weekend around the region, as Juffer and Yonke won the Open portion of the Heart of America Four Ball Championship in suburban Kansas City and Weldon captured the top spot at the Metropolitan Amateur in Saint Louis, Mo.

Playing at The Golf Club of Creekmoor in Raymore, Mo., Juffer and Yonke trailed the duo of Jackson Foth and Josh Weems by two holes with eleven to play but went on to birdie six of the remaining eight holes to down Foth and Weems, 5 and 4. With the victory, the pair of Wildcats joined K-State legend Jim Colbert, Yonke's grandfather, on the Heart of America list of champions.

Despite waiting out a rain delay of over four hours, Weldon saved his best for last as he fired off a tournament-best score of 68 in final round action to win the 22nd Metro Amateur Championship at the Old Warsaw Country Club on Saturday. Weldon ended with a 4-under 209 to finish three strokes ahead of Kevin Bell and Skip Berkmeyer, the 2009 winner of the event.

The K-State men's golf team will begin the 2012-13 season in the Shocker Classic, September 10-11, at the Wichita Country Club in Wichita.
